Throughout our lives, there are topics that interest us, that we think deeply about, and that become interwoven into who we are. These subjects may include concepts, objects, emotions, experiences, people, and so much more. Author Alan Spector was prompted to reflect on his long list of topics to answer these and many other questions...
Do I look through the trees or at them?
Do I ask the second question?
Am I predisposed to say "Yes?"
Have I found the magic?
Am I superstitious?
The reflection that piqued his interest in turning his thoughts into this book related to something a friend advised him of decades ago, "Look through the trees not at them--you'll be amazed how deeply into the forest you'll be able to see." Since then, he has followed his friend's advice but also realized that the concept of looking through the trees is a metaphor for life. We have the opportunity to look beyond what we see and hear on the surface, being able probe further to understand things on a much deeper level.
Spector's Through the Trees is intended both to capture his thoughts on key topics from across his 80 years and to prompt the reader to consider their subjects of reflection.
